Calm mild sunny conditions greeted 9 riders prompting Les to say "No excuses tonight". Michael replied "Heck, you mean, no excuse book allowed?" "Unless it's a really good excuse" countered Les. Indeed it was a fast night with Ginette achieving personal best and a bouquet of wild flowers picked by her son, and 5 riders coming in with season's bests. Quinton Sweeney looked good at the turn but the snake bite consequence of hitting a pothole on the way out had him walking up the steep pitch on the way back. That was a good excuse for a DNF. Les, on the other hand, finished 20 seconds off of his season best and cited excuse #4 from the fictitious (but useful) excuse book. His chain had come off at about 8 minutes into his ride and he had to stop to reinstall.
